Practicing Evidence-Based Psychotherapy
May 9 – Jun. 13, 2025 ⬥ 12 – 1:30 PM ET
Busy mental health professionals require access to the latest evidence-based psychotherapy practices to improve clinical outcomes and deliver high quality care to their patients. It is challenging, however, for clinicians to keep pace with evolving evidence literature and select practices to apply to a range of different disorders and problems. What happens when a patient does not respond to or is not comfortable with the treatment approach offered? Is it possible to select components of an evidence-based practice, or move from one approach to another? Are online evidence-based interventions beneficial for improving mental health outcomes?
In this new 5-week series, mental health clinicians will learn how to select and individualize an evidence-based treatment approach based on their clinical assessment. Faculty will discuss ways to enhance treatment through an integration of mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, and dialectical behavioral therapy. We will introduce the Unified Protocol (UP), which provides an emotion-focused treatment and equips clients with skills and strategies for managing symptoms across diagnoses. Participants will increase their confidence and skills to effectively address core psychological processes underlying multiple mental health disorders. Join us! (Note: there will be no session on May 23rd)
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
Describe the role of Evidence Based Practices (EBPs) in advancing care that is consistent with science and enables improvement and recovery
Identify the evidence base for select psychotherapies
Individualize EBP treatment approaches based on clinical assessments
Adapt EBP treatment approaches to respond to evolving clinical presentations, cultural differences and individual needs
Use mindfulness awareness to enhance clinical outcomes
Integrate EBP interventions from presented modalities into individual and group treatment
